2. Course description
The Extended Diploma in Applied Science programme has been designed specifically to meet the needs of the national developments in Science. This programme will help your development in terms of knowledge application and experimental / practical science techniques.Students will develop a range of analytical and scientific skills and practical techniques of enquiry to enable them to apply knowledge, understanding to the workplace. During the course, students will be given the opportunity to identify and solve problems and will be able to communicate their arguments and analysis in a range of ways to different audiences as well as promoting Lifelong Learning which is a key component of the course. The Science team comprises an enthusiastic team of academically and industrially experienced staff who are highly committed to the success of their students and to the overall success of the course.
3. Entry requirements
To do this course, you will need GCSE Science grade C and GCSE Maths and English grades 4/5 (or equivalent).
4. Equipment required
All equipment needed will be provided by B&FC at no additional cost.
5. Assessment method
Most courses are assessed via a combination of coursework, exams and practical assessments. Exams are formal, timed written assessments, carried out in a controlled environment and overseen by one or more invigilators. Coursework differs from exams in that it is usually non-timed and carried out independently. Practical assessments involve observation of your practical skills and competencies by a trained assessor.
