2. Course description
This is one of a suite of level 3 units that can be studied individually either as stand-alone subjects for either interest purposes or professional development - or it can form part of either the CILEx Professional Certificate or Diploma in Law. The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) route to becoming a lawyer is a genuine low-cost alternative route through to the legal profession. CILEx is a nationally recognised awarding body that provides legal training and this unit can form part of the training route to become a legal executive. Legal executives stand shoulder to shoulder with solicitors with similar rights and recognition. This is a full cost course. There is no fee remission available and you cannot apply for an advanced learner loan to pay for your fees.
3. Entry requirements
It is recommended that you hold a full level 2 qualification, for example 4 GCSEs including English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above. For adults, this requirement can be satisfied with relevant industry or life experience.
4. Equipment required
There is a one off initial registration fee with CILEx of £40 followed by an annual membership fee. The cost varies depending on the stage of your career development. There is a nominal fee for those interested in single units for their continuing profess
5. Assessment method
This unit will be assessed by a 1½ hour examination (plus 15 minutes reading time) based on pre-released case study materials. Results for these units are graded pass, merit, and distinction.
