2. Course description
The course is an introduction to Aviation Operations for full-time students who are looking to find out how operations at the airport work and learn some basic aircraft maintenance skills. The Certificate and Diploma in the Aviation Environment can lead to a range of roles including: - Airport baggage handler - Passenger services - Airside operations - Landside operations o gain the C&G Level 3 Diploma in Aviation Operations, you will study a modules titled : - Health and Safety in the Aviation Industry - Security in the Aviation Industry In addition to this module, other topics which you may cover include - Flight Operations - Plan the loading of aircraft - Principles of Flight You will also be able to retake one GCSE in either Maths or English if you have not achieved a Grade C or above (4 or above)
3. Entry requirements
Either 4 GCSE passes at grade A*/9 - C/4 to include Maths OR English and preferably science; or a relevant Level 2 Diploma in Engineering at a Merit or Distinction grade (and a minimum of Grade C/4 in GCSE Maths and English). Also, an excellent reference or school report followed by a successful selection interview.
4. Equipment required
If you have a Learning Difference or Disability please let us know when you apply. You will be offered support in your interview. If you need help completing your application we can help with this too. You will be expected to supply your own stationery such as folders, paper and pens. You will need to provide appropriate PPE including overalls and boots for the aircraft hangar. 5. Assessment method
The subject units are assessed in a variety of ways; some are assessed by assignments which may involve working in groups or independently and marked by your teachers using City and Guilds Criteria. Some assignments are assessed whilst undertaking practical activities.
