Support facilities Brackenhurst is an idylic 200 hectare estate approximately 14 miles from Nottingham. With purpose built Equestrian Centre, Animal Unit, Veterinary Nursing Centre and specialist units for Agriculture and Horticulture. The woodland streams and natural countryside on the estate provide the perfect location for wildlife and countryside conservation.

2. Course description

Brackenhurst is an idyllic 200 hectare estate in a beautiful rural setting, it runs a commercial teaching farm with its own flock of sheep and a herd of lincoln red cattle, a brand new roundhouse offering modern and innovative housing for our beef cattle. Modules include Agricultural crop production, grassland management, farm livestock husbandry, Estate skills & Land-based machinery operations. This Course provides students with the knowledge and practical skills to pursue a successful career in either the agricultural industry or one of the many related trades, or go into higher education

3. Entry requirements

4 GCSE's at grade C or above to include English Language, Maths and Science (BTEC Science Merit) these are essential for applicants under 19 or an appropriate Btec Level 2 at Merit or Distinction or City & Guilds National Certificate at Credit or above in a relevant subject (equivalent qualifications considered are age dependent) Applications will be assessed on an individual basis and are welcome from mature and international students with non standard entry profiles.

4. Equipment required

Wellington Boots, Waterproof Jacket & Leggings, Heavy boots with topcap protection and overalls.

5. Assessment method

Students are assessed during the course by course assignments, practical and class tests
