2. Who this course is for

Enhance your professional development with the Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills. Whether you're keen to become a qualified professional counsellor or you wish to gain counselling skills as part of your current profession (for example teaching or nursing), this 30-week programme is for you. As you develop your counselling skills, you will cover areas such as theoretical approaches, working ethically, diversity and personal development. This qualification may aid progression to accredited counsellor status but it is not a licence to practise counselling. Should you wish to follow that route, upon successful completion, you should consider progressing to the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

3. Entry requirements

To do this programme, you will need a Level 2 Counselling qualification (having studied a minimum of 90 hours). You must also be able to undertake written and oral assessments at level 2.The programme requires you to be at least 19 and not in a current state of severe emotional difficulty or psychological confusion, nor involved in substance misuse.

7. How you'll be assessed

Most courses are assessed via a combination of coursework, exams and practical assessments. Exams are formal, timed written assessments, carried out in a controlled environment and overseen by one or more invigilators. Coursework differs from exams in that it is usually non-timed and carried out independently. Practical assessments involve observation of your practical skills and competencies by a trained assessor.
