On this Technical Theatre course you will work in our theatre studio to understand how the technical side of a theatrical production works. You will learn the basics of how to programme a set of sound cues using Q-Lab, and create a basic lighting design. You will practice operating lighting and sound for a theatrical production. Our theatre studio has LED lighting, a sound and lighting desk for you to explore with an experienced tutor-s guidance. You will work collaboratively with the Technical Theatre group to design the sound and light for our Morley -Acting: the company- summer show. You will work directly with the acting students and director on a set brief. You will be involved in the show in a technical role which could be: stage management, lighting design, sound design, operating the show, building / sourcing set for the production.

Understand how the course will be delivered.

Classes will be both theoretical and practical. Students will take turns in programming and operating the lighting and sound desks. Students will not be permitted to rig lighting, this will be done by a qualified and insured lighting designer / technician. The student designs will need to utalise the lights we have in the rig in the theatre studio (no new lights will be added). Students will work collaboratively as a group to design the sound and light for our summer student show.
