6 GCSE/BTEC passes at Level 4 or above. It is desirable to achieve a Merit or above in this subject at Level 2 (or a related subject).
You will be taught formally about theoretical aspects of the course but you will also be expected to individually investigate, carry out assignments and apply knowledge to assignments meeting clearly designated deadlines. Internal examinations and the use of past paper materials will also be used. Work experience in an appropriate setting is compulsory and may require you to have a DBS check. Work experience will take place in one of your study periods a week.

The qualification carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers. It is a useful qualification if you have an interest in a potential career in the Early Years sector including Teaching, Speech and Language Therapy, Paediatric Nursing and Childcare.
