This is an exciting programme developed to introduce you to a range of animation and illustration techniques using both traditional and digital media. Through inventive and exciting assignments you will develop digital and traditional skills that are highly desirable and recognised in the industry.Create projects that are linked to employer needs and allow you to develop both art and non-art skills which are essential to working in an animation or design studio. For instance, learning skills in: teamwork, communication, presentation, planning and managing resources, as well as understanding your audience. The course will also teach you how to manage the animation processes, such as: planning and setting-up a production pipeline so you can control the logistics of an animation. During each project we will also highlight key artists, designers and animators who have influenced illustration and animation.

Entry requirements for the course: 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including an art subject (English and maths desirable but one retake can be taken during the year). You will be continuously assessed through the compilation of a completed sketchbooks showing all set tasks, alongside experiments and final outcomes, which can include: character turnarounds, design boards, posters, models, digital illustrations, animatics and full animations. You will hand in your final submissions on design boards and also electronically.
