Undergraduates develop their skills that will enable them to make an effective contribution to the dental technology sector. Studying both theory and practical lessons ensures you are competent in providing the clinical team with dental appliances that are fit for purpose. There are opportunities for innovative, imaginative and creative learners in all the units of this qualification, in both taught sessions and the assessment of each unit. This course is the higher level programme for registration as a Dental Care Professional with the General Dental Council to enable you to practice as a Dental Technician. The practical elements are developed in our dental laboratories where you will gain knowledge of materials, techniques and equipment commonly found in the dental technology sector. Practical work is underpinned with theoretical classes that will build your confidence as a young, new professional. You will learn how to use dental materials but you will also understand how to select them and why they are used as part of a dental appliance. The role of the dental team and specifically the role of a dental technician is a key area of development. Year 1 modules: � Anatomy and Physiology and Basis Appliance Design � Basic Dental Technology Techniques � Employment Practice A � Introductory Dental Biomaterials The tuition fee for academic year 2020-21 is �9,250 or �6,939 for part-time. The Year 1 and Year 2 full time tuition fee for academic year 2021-22 is �9,250. The Year 1 and Year 2 part time tuition fee is �6,939, the Year 3 tuition fee for academic year 2021-22 is �4,626. Please be aware that we intend to increase tuition fees in subsequent years using the Retail Price Index (RPI-X).

UCAS Points: 32 points made up of: A Levels: 1 A Level at Grade C, BTEC Ext Dip: Grade PPP, BTEC Dip: Grade PP, BTEC 90 Credit Dip: Grade MP, Access to HE: Grade P45. Min number of GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above: 4 which must include: GCSE English: Grade C/4, GCSE Maths: Grade C/4. L2 equivalents are accepted. Students are required to sit an English assessment equivalent to L2. Students whose first language is not English need a minimum standard of English at IELTS Level 7 with no element below 6.5

Our course is 50% course work and 50% examination. You will need to undertake 200 hours of work experience each year in a Dental Laboratory. You will complete practical projects, presentations, reports and a portfolio. We place a strong emphasis on high levels of attendance and achievement.
