The Civil Engineering sector is vast, ranging from the construction and design of roads and bridges, the rail network, utilities, coastal and flood defences, to name but a few areas. Civil Engineers can be consulting engineers who design and advise on projects or they can be contracting engineers who are involved in the construction of the projects. This course is aimed at individuals looking to be employed within the civil engineering sector in roles associated with design or management of roads and bridges, railways and buildings. This course will enable individuals to progress to Higher Education to study civil engineering related courses or into employment within the sector. The units selected for study facilitate progression to both full-time HE and employment. All learners are provided with the opportunity of a short work placement. Please note, this course is offered at Castleford College as well as Wakefield College.
