By studying a BTEC Level 3 National, learners develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required by the A broad basis of study for the health science sector, including essential employability skills, and apply them in real work contexts.

This course builds on the knowledge and understanding of GCSE science. It is expected that students will have achieved a 5-5 or above in combined science, or two single sciences, and a 5 in English Language (we will consider high 4-4 grades accompanied by 5 in maths).

All pupils must complete the following mandatory units: ● Principles of Applied Human Biology (External assessment) ● Practical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases ● Human Biology and Health Issues (External assessment) Pupils then complete one optional unit from: ● Functional Physiology ● Diseases, Disorders, Treatments and Therapies ● Genetics and Genetic Engineering ● Biomedical Science ● Human Reproduction and Fertility
