This course is ideal for you if you want a practical introduction to business and administration. The course is designed to offer a taster of what it would be like to work in one of these areas and you will learn new skills. You will be studying key areas, including: - The roles and responsibilities of working in business administration - How to support business meetings - Be able to use different office equipment in a business environment - Use different methods of communicating electronically - Taking part in group projects - Develop business ideas for a small business Maths, English and IT are an essential part of your course and you will work towards a qualification at an appropriate level of pre-GCSE or GCSE.

There are no formal qualifications required it depends upon experience and attitude. No past experience of using computers is required but is an advantage if you have used Word Processing packages in particular. Depending upon your qualifications/experience a diagnostic test in English and Maths may be used to check that you have the skills needed.

You will be expected to dress professionally to every lesson. This will be discussed during the interview process. You need to being a pen, notepad and folders to every lesson. Memory sticks should be brought to save and back up work done on computers. As part of the course, business trips are organised for real-world expereince of business (e.g. Cadbury World). You will also have access to to guest speakers and careers tutorials.

ll assignments are internally assessed, subject to external verification. To pass the course you will be assessed via practical assignments, coursework and external exams in IT, maths and English. Although you may be given homework, the coursework is completed in the classroom.
